mAPPn customised idle screen application for Android Devices

Just as you think that the idle screens glory is over, in comes news from mAPPn. It is an “idle” or home screen application for Google’s Android OS.

Who is mAPPn?

Founded in 2009 by Terry Tan, mAPPns primary focus lies in the development of utility applications for the Google Android operating system. aHome, which has advanced icon management system and setting options, is one of the most popular home applications in Android Market. It has generated great interest among today’s top mobile and media companies.

Is the service launched?

At the moment mAPPn has developed a service specifically for T-Mobile. It is called FreshFace. The aim of the application is to allow full home screen customisation from the inclusion of themes and widgets. The application is now available on the myTouch 3G device.

Is it free and is customisation free?

No. Some content is free and some customisation costs money.

What we think?

I have been a fan of idle or home screen customisation from day one. Abaxia makes great idle screen and mobile idle screen services for Orange and it really makes using the phone a joy.

Saying that, would you pay to customise your home screen? I think that adding widgets and services to the screen seamlessly without an old fashion ticker style scroll is vital. But then adding a business model to the service might be risky as it is a fact that anything on the home screen gets used and clicked and accessed by users first.

Operators must decide if the value is the constant use and loyalty of the service to the phone or the chance of making a few cents with mobile content uploads.
